Fermi is a Windows service that ingests those documents, embeds them locally, and answers questions about them on hardware you already own.

Nothing leaves your network
The service ships with no analytics, no auto-update beacon, and no managed inference endpoint. Block all outbound traffic and Fermi keeps working. Air-gapped is the default install, not a hardened configuration.
You own the index
Documents, embeddings, and metadata all live on your disk. Back it up, move it, encrypt the volume — it’s yours. Meridian Vega does not retain copies.
Grounded answers only
If the retriever finds nothing relevant, Fermi returns an explicit “not found in indexed documents” response and suggests what kinds of files to add. The model is not allowed to fall back to general world knowledge.
Built-in safety filter
Every prompt and every response passes through a security filter: a pre-filter blocks malicious instruction patterns; a post-filter masks sensitive personal information before the answer leaves the service.
